Fiction

Begin by spinning the wheel to watch the sunrise over the house. Soon the animals will begin to play, splash, dance, and bustle out of the beds to start the day. Kids will love interacting with the pages, pulling tabs, or lifting flaps as the animals start their day.

With a rhyming scheme, the animals’ joy in the morning seems to sing off of the pages. There is so much excitement at getting to start the day from the birds to the salmon to the dragonflies to the rabbits to the bear cubs and chipmunks. All the animals are completely adorable and the interactive features will be easy and fun for toddlers. Plus the pages are full of things to have kids find and count.

Fiction

As the sun sets and the moon rises with a turn of the spinning wheel, kids will get ready for bed as some of the animals just start to wake up for the night. The nighttime animals will appear and start their day as everyone else is going to sleep.

The raccoons, foxes, skunks, possums, bats, and coyotes are all ready to dig into the garbage cans and steal a berry or two while we are all sleeping. Toddlers will love all the interactive features including pull tabs, lift-the-flaps, and sliding the blanket over the girl in bed.

These board books are a perfect set for starting and ending your toddler’s day.

Serena Gingold Allen grew up in the foothills outside of Yosemite and spent her childhood observing the natural world. She now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, but she still spends a lot of time in the great outdoors hiking and rock climbing with her husband and their two children.

Teagan White explores the wonders of the natural world and the friendly creatures who live in it through picture books, stationery, puzzles, fabric, and beyond. Teagan lives in Oregon with their partner and stepdaughter, where they like to ride bikes, adventure in the woods, spy on raccoons in their backyard, and visit seagulls at the beach.
