Fiction

Lyrical text and dreamy illustrations show a group of snowmen waltzing through the snow. Kids will learn the rhythm of a waltz by reading the dance of ONE, two three, ONE, two, three. As they glide onto the frozen pond, the snowmen waltz in pairs. Over the hill, a line of penguins is marching and heading toward the pond as well. Kids will learn a much different rhythm than a waltz, instead by counting along to a group of marching penguins.

As the penguins come down the hill, the snowmen keep gliding along the pond until the penguins and the snowmen collide. Their two rhythms don’t quite match until the two groups decide to line up and try something new.

The end of the book includes lyrics and sheet music to “The Snowman Waltz” as well as a fun lesson on a waltz. This story of penguins and snowmen coming together shares a lesson in cooperation and a willingness to try something new.
