Even though Mother’s Day is only a few days away, I still wanted to share a roundup of books perfect for celebrating your mom any day of the year! I’ve broken down the books into categories. Each book has amazon links, but you could also find these in your local bookstore, and don’t hesitate to ask if they could order it for you if it’s not on their shelf.

I decided to break up these books into categories and then just share my original blog posts with you. If you are interested, clicking the box will take you to the original book review post, unless in a couple instances where I didn’t blog about them specifically.

I have enjoyed each of the following books and believe there is something in this list for every mom on your list. If you are running out of time to purchase, you can always print the photo of the book cover and say the book is on the way!

Books for Cooking with Your Kids

These books feature simple recipes to help your child be comfortable in the kitchen. Spending time with your child baking and cooking can be some of the best memories. Who know? You many just find a new family favorite recipe!

Books for Expecting or New Moms

Even though these are all children’s books, each one would make a great gift for a new or expecting mom. The stories are full of heart and emotion about becoming a mom whether it is through her own pregnancy or adoption. Some of them are even perfect for moms having their second child.

Books for Moms to Read on their Own

The following books cover all kinds of categories: memoir, historical fiction, women’s fiction, short stories/essays, self-help, and Christian. These were all ones I loved reading and still think about often. There is even one for a mom of a pet!

MOM: A CELEBRATION OF MOTHERS FROM STORYCORPS

Edited by: Dave Isay

I read this book last year in time for Mother’s Day and here is what I said about it:

“This American Life” and “Storycorp” were some of the first podcasts I ever listened to. In 2012, I remember hearing about these stories that were recorded about moms and the proceeds will go to the StoryCorps organization.

With Mother’s Day coming up and needing some feel-good stories in my life right now I pulled this one off my shelf. I breezed through it and loved reading about siblings talking about their moms, mothers, and children sharing stories together, and even couples talking about their moms. The stories are heartwarming with life lessons and lots of inspiration. It would make an excellent gift for any mom in your life.

Books Perfect for Family Time with Mom

Moms love to have fun and these books offer that. Two are journals and one is full of fun family game night ideas. Don’t miss these!

I haven’t shared about this journal before, but I actually own it and have filled it out with my daughter for several years. The journal includes prompts for the mom to answer and the daughter to answer. My daughter and I liked to write in it during our own time and then place it on each other’s pillow to let the other one know it was their turn. Some of the questions are about my childhood, friendships, how I was raised by my own mom, what I like to do for fun, and what I wanted to be when I grew up. There is also space in the journal for drawing or writing.

This is truly just a small sampling of books as there are so many more amazing books I could have listed here. If the mom on your list loves to read, offering her an afternoon or evening to just sit in her favorite chair and read without interruption might just be the perfect gift this Mother’s Day!
