This book is a must-have for all new moms in your life. It took me right back to how I was feeling nearly twenty years ago when I had a one-year-old and a newborn. As the mother of identical twins and two other children, Lindsay Kellar-Madsen wanted to write a book that moms could read to their babies and yet be reminded that their job as a mother wasn’t forgotten. The book is entertaining with a rhyming rhythm for children and moms will understand the hidden messages of “you are seen”, “it’s ok to be exhausted”, and be reminded “you are doing a great job”.

Each page shows a mom and her baby or toddler doing the things moms do every day with them: feeding, playing, bathing, calming, and even running errands. The book reminds moms that it is ok to feel overwhelmed and exhausted, but ultimately, there is so much love for your baby. The book ends with the joy of sharing motherhood with other moms and knowing you are never alone.

The illustrations feature moms from a variety of diverse backgrounds and moms with one child or many children on her lap. Whether you are a first-time mom or a fourth-time mom, motherhood isn’t easy, but it sure is worth it. This book celebrates all things motherhood from the bad to the good. Its honesty can be a comforting reminder to moms that this too shall pass and the days are long, but the years are short.

Giving this book not only shows that you love the baby, but also that you love the mom just as much.
