Fiction

This lyrical story celebrates nature as well as the love between a parent and child. The rhythm of the story makes it perfect for reading before naptime or bedtime. Kids always love hearing how much they are loved and cared for and this book does that while also celebrating all the beauty of nature. From vegetables growing in the garden to the trees in the forest to a butterfly coming out of a cocoon to the stars in the nighttime sky, your child will know they are loved.

The calming illustrations flow well from page to page. Among the verses, you’ll see a parent and child enjoying a day in nature until eventually, the shadows in the day are extending and it is time to go to sleep. My favorite page was the parent and child snuggling together at the end of the day with the verse, “No matter where we choose to roam, you’ll always be my heart and home.” Even though I am now the mom of adults, I am always the happiest when I am with my little chickadees (who are no longer little).
