The latest book in the author-illustrator team, Davide Cali and Benjamin Chaud‘s internationally acclaimed series is the perfect silly read for calming the back-to-school nerves. When a teacher asks Henry and Ali if they finished their homework, you won’t believe their answer!

In the realm of IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, Henry and Ali attempt to explain to their teacher why they were unable to complete their homework assignment. Their over-the-top and out-of-this-world explanations involve lots of comical scenarios. All of the interruptions and delays obviously kept Henry and Ali from doing their homework.

From a spaceship jam to no chairs available for sitting to her mom’s car needing fuel and trying to avoid a really big hole, there was just no possible way to start or even finish their homework. The reading is perfect for younger elementary and the whimsical illustrations will garner some laughs from your kids.

As a teacher, I’ve heard a lot of excuses for not completing homework, but this one is silly enough to maybe even motivate your child to get theirs done.
