The other day I received a special surprise in the mail from one of my closest friends. Even though we only live 30 minutes apart from each other, we typically only see each other once a month. Receiving this package from her was quite a surprise and filled my heart with…well… JOY!

The Joy House was started by friends of my dear friend. Joe and Marla Truitt built the Joy House for their son, Seth, now an adult with Down Syndrome because he wanted to have his own place. Building the Joy House led to the storefront in Estes Park, Colorado, and an online store.

The Joy House Store in Estes Park is made up of gifts that are all made by friends with special needs or disabilities. Their mission is:

Our Mission is to build a supportive community for special artists by sharing their creativity through their unique gifts. And by doing so, give them the opportunity to light the world with their elevated confidence, independence, and JOY!

The online store includes items for nearly everyone on your shopping list from babies to grandparents. You’ll find adorable onesies that say “You Are My Sunshine” to bags of ground coffee. Tote bags, mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and handmade cards are a few of the highlights from the shop. The actual store may offer even more items and you can always call or stop in if you are near Estes Park.

My friend sent me a “Bestie Box” that had all kinds of goodies inside. I didn’t find the “Bestie Box” on the website, but I’m sure you can call the store to arrange for delivery to your own BFF.

My box included a beautiful card, a bath bomb shaped like a coffee mug with a caramel apple scent, a pumpkin souffle candle, a bag of House Blend ground coffee, and smoothie bites that are kind of like a skittle.

I love supporting small businesses and especially those that support a wonderful cause. If you are looking for a unique gift that also benefits others, I encourage you to make someone’s day by sending them a package from Joy House.

I have no affiliation with Joy House. I just wanted to share a great small business and encourage you to support small businesses in your area or online!
