PUG & PIG AND FRIENDS is a new addition to the adorable series featuring the unlikely friendship between Pug and Pig. Now we get to meet their other friends Squirrel, Robin, and Cat. These five friends spend their days doing what they love, except not all of them love to do the same things. Four of them like to explore in the bushes. But not Cat. Four of them like to run around the yard. But not Cat. Cat’s favorite game is surprising Pug when he is napping.

When a thunderstorm catches the friends off guard and one of them gets into a bit of trouble, the others rally to rescue them in the most “surprising” way.

This sweet story of friendship celebrates that not everyone has to enjoy the same things to all get along. I also appreciated how the friends came up with an idea to help Cat get her back home safely.

This book and accompanying books in the series are great for early readers because of the full-page illustrations, limited words on the pages, and repetitive texts. The story moves fast and will hold the youngest reader’s attention. Pug and Pig and their friends can help remind kids that it is ok to like different things and still be friends with each other.
