A year on the farm needs all kinds of boots for everyone in the farm family. The calendar says spring is here which means it can be muddy on the farm or the farm can be full of puddles. Boots are worn for protection from dirt and mud as well as protection for our feet. Boots are also worn to keep us warm as the air turns colder and snow arrives.
There are boots for various jobs on the farm and boots for each of the seasons. With a brilliant rhyming scheme, kids will learn about various jobs on the farm and how everyone needs to pitch in. As we travel through the year, our feet tend to grow as well, so when spring arrives again, boots may need to be passed down to siblings with smaller feet. That is the quintessential life of the farm boots.
The illustrations are adorable and I loved that sheep and chickens are featured on the pages. There is even a page of kids showing their pigs at the fair just like my nieces and nephews did. Renée Kurilla is the creator of THE FLOWER GARDEN and ONE SPRINGY, SINGY DAY, as well as the illustrator of RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE. She has a BFA in illustration and a minor in graphic design from Lesley University College of Art and Design.
