Nonfiction November

In the book world, the month of November is dedicated to reading and sharing nonfiction books. This month I’ll be sharing some non-fiction books that I think would be great for readers, young and old. These books will cover various topics and interests. Non-Fiction

This love letter to Earth is a great lesson for all of us. Out of billions of planets, Earth is our only planet and we are responsible for protecting it. We don’t always take care of it, taking too much from our planet, leaving litter behind, and not caring for the homes of the birds, animals, and fish. This picture book offers reminders for how to protect each part of our precious planet.

From the soil and the water, to the animals and the trees, to the air and our people each part of our planet is an important part of it all working together. We can each do something small to take care of each piece of our planet. Each small act like riding a bike to school or using tote bags instead of plastic or growing a community garden can make our planet healthier.

The illustrations show how quickly our planet can be affected by taking advantage of our resources but also how quickly just a few people working together can make your community better. The pages are full of happy children and adults working together to keep their community clean, having fun on a beautiful day in the park, and playing in the pond with the frogs.

The end of the book includes a note from the authors about their reasons for sharing this book with you. There is also a list of activities to do with your child to expand on what they learned in the book. Activities explore ways to save water or reduce paper, small tasks that make a big difference.
