Fiction

At the age of 10, it is customary for a princess to be given her own room. In this kingdom, it is quite a big deal, and a new addition is added to the castle for this room, taking ten years to build the tower. Unfortunately, Princess Elizabeth was afraid of heights, which kept her from going to her new room each night.

One morning, Elenora, the housekeeper, was in Elizabeth’s room dusting and left the window open, allowing a very sleepy dragon to come in and take a nap. Since no one else seemed to be using the room, the dragon moved in. Her family found the dragon and assumed the dragon had taken Elizabeth. Chaos ensues until Elizabeth has to come out of hiding and admit she hasn’t been staying in her new room at all.

This silly story reminds kids to be honest about their fears and not hide them from their family. Plus, a compromise is made in the story to show that sometimes it’s okay to do things differently from what is expected.
