When a nasty storm rolls through while the construction crew is sleeping, a series of events sparks a fire, and the firetrucks are called in to help. But, they can’t do it alone; they also need the help of Bulldozer to push sand to keep the fires from getting out of hand, as well as Crane, Skid, and Dump Truck to remove things that can easily catch fire.
With the rhyming text that kids love and what makes these stories such great read-alouds, kids will learn about the dangers of fire and how quickly things can get out of control. Sherri Duskey Rinker consulted with a senior fire investigator to ensure accuracy when writing this story. She has also included important Fire Safety Tips for kids at the end of the book. AG Ford’s vivid illustrations make the story come to life on the page, and kids will see the determination that the construction crew and firetrucks have to get the fires out.
Starting with a storm that turns into a fire can be a scary story for kids, but watching everyone take immediate action to work together and put out the fire shows kids that there are people willing to help when things go wrong. We can’t prevent storms and fires, but taking steps to be safe, having an escape plan, and knowing who to call for help are important lessons learned in this book from a series that kids already know and trust.
