This board book/activity book engages your child’s fine motor skills and deductive reasoning. Even though this is a board book, it is definitely more for preschool to early-elementary-aged kids. Each page has a puzzle to work out by matching the challenges in a variety of levels, from easy to more difficult.

The first puzzle is a carousel slide puzzle of a lily pad. By looking at the various picture challenges, kids have to move the slides on the lily pad to match the pictures with the challenge, such as finding a blue water lily and a pink water lily, or a green frog and a pink water lily. By moving the slides on the lily pad, kids can move the images into the openings to match the picture.

Kids will also pull tabs to make a color pattern of butterflies, use a slide puzzle to make a pattern of earthworms, open flaps in various ways to get the correct plant, and move discs to plant vegetables in a garden. Each puzzle offers a different type of challenge, some being easier and others more difficult. I feel like the earthworm slide puzzle would be the most difficult for kids. Once they have mastered the challenges on the page, parents or kids could come up with their own challenges to keep the fun going.

If you need a quiet-time activity or want your child to practice fine motor skills, this book offers 45 different challenges for kids to work on problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
