This lyrical read-aloud is the perfect dreamy, soothing bedtime story. A mother and child start their bedtime routine with a bath, which then transforms into a magical adventure.
Hosford uses a rhyming scheme that makes the prose have a soothing feel when read aloud. Each verse ends with a partner relationship, such as fork and spoon, hide and seek, or glow and flame to represent the close relationship between mother and child.

Jones’s serene yet vividly colored illustrations are whimsical and move to dreamy and soothing as the adventure comes to an end when bedtime is near. A leg peeking out behind the tree during hide and seek, and a bird cuddling her egg in a nest while mom and child are cuddling on the bed surrounded by books, are some of my favorite pages.
Your child’s dreams will be full of imagination, adventure, and lots of love after reading this bedtime story. Don’t miss these books by Kate Hosford that I’ve previously shared on the blog.
