Fiction
Mateo is excited for a day with his Gram. He’s made a list of all the things they can do, including a slow walk at the park, a relaxing day at the beach, a snack, and other quiet activities. But Gram has other ideas.

Even though Mateo thinks his Gram is old, she surprises him with unexpected activities that aren’t on his list. Rather than a slow walk through the park, Gram decides they should go on a run. When they get to the beach, Mateo wants to take the jitney, but Gram chooses to take the bikes…even when Mateo doesn’t know how to ride a bike yet.
Gram encourages Mateo to be adventurous and to try new things. Mateo and his gram have a day full of fun and make special memories. Even when Mateo is off to sleep, Gram is still crossing items off her list for the day.
It’s rare to find a grandparent story that isn’t dealing with the end of life or grief. Mateo and his Gram have a special relationship, and Gram is still young at heart and active. This special story is perfect for grandparents who love adventurous days with their grandkids and for those kids who still have a full and active relationship with their grandparents. Viau dedicated this book to grandmothers everywhere and the grandkids who love them.
