A baby has been born, and the birds have been called to bring gifts to the newborn King. In THE BIRDS OF CHRISTMAS, all kinds of birds from ravens and doves to sparrows and more rush to bring gifts to the new baby.

Alongside the Christian Christmas story, there is a story of a small bird who wants to bring a gift to the baby like the other birds, but he is too small to find anything to give. As a big gust of wind comes up, the fire warming the baby starts to go out. Suddenly, the little bird knows exactly what he can do for the baby and his mother, Mary.

The colored-pencil illustrations combine blues, greys, and oranges to create a warm glow on this special night in Bethlehem. Combining a cherished Christmas story with a folktale of how the robin got her bright orange breast makes for a perfect Christmas read-aloud.
