Piano Music

Is there a budding pianist in your house? Did your child start piano lessons this fall? Everyone loves to sing and play Christmas music, and your child will be thrilled to show off their talents by playing a few Christmas tunes for their grandparents and other visiting family.

Many of the songs in this collection will be familiar to your child, making it easier to play a new song on the piano. But some of the songs will likely be unfamiliar and can add to their knowledge of Christmas songs, and maybe they will even find a new favorite like The Holly and the Ivy, or I Saw Three Ships.

The songs begin with tunes that are easier to play, and then they gradually get more difficult, ending with Joy to the World and Auld Lang Syne. With 25 songs, your child will likely be able to find a few favorites to master. Each song has an image of the keyboard showing the keys that will be played in that particular song, and the keys are also labeled with each note.

Sprinkled throughout the book are various fun facts related to piano music, such as Domingos-António Gomes setting a world record by being the fastest piano player in the world in 2017. Any guesses on the most recorded Christmas song ever? It’s Silent Night.

Incidentally, anyone can start playing the piano. Even though most of us start as young children, I started at the age of 5, my mom took lessons for the first time at the age of 80. She had always wanted to learn how to play the piano and just decided that she could take lessons too. She took lessons for 5 years and has been thrilled that she can sit down and play a song at the piano. So, here is your encouragement to take lessons, no matter what age you are.
