It’s time for the annual FIRST BOOK OF THE YEAR with Sheila at Book Journey and hundreds of other readers around the world.
What is First Book? Well, it is just like it says, it is the First Book you choose to read in the new year. It can be a book that you’ve been wanting to read, maybe a classic, or one you received as a gift this Christmas. Maybe it is something you’ve been meaning to read as part of your own self-improvement. It can be any book you’d like! It is YOUR FIRST BOOK.
I love seeing what book is the most popular choice and the wide variety of books that are chosen. I usually add a few to my own reading list!
This will be my sixth year participating and I have known for a couple of months which book would be my FIRST BOOK. It seems like the perfect book for kicking off the new year. So many people have raved about it and I can’t wait to dive in.
But first, let’s revisit previous years books.
I read this one from our balcony while visiting Pensacola Beach, hence the sunglasses. This was my first, FIRST BOOK and unfortunately, it was a miss for me. So many other readers raved about this one though.
2017 THE TWO-FAMILY HOUSE
This one checked all my boxes including historical fiction and family drama. This one was a favorite of 2017 for me!
2018 JUST BETWEEN US
I am not a regular mystery reader. This one about four friends/moms and the secrets they were keeping had just the right amount of suspense and mystery to keep me turning the pages.
A definite favorite and a great way to kick off a year of reading with a book all about the joys of the reading life.
This was such a fascinating and heart-breaking read. I had to put it down several times due to the heaviness of it, but I really loved it.
And now for my First Book of 2021…
