I have to think that this book landed in my mailbox at the perfect time. The month of October has 31 days. During the month of October, I was part of a prayer group at our church that met weekly. Personally, I’ve been focusing on being more intentional in my prayer life. So, this book just seemed like it was meant for me to read at this moment.

This book is for women who want to feel like God is walking by their side every day. For women that want to believe He is in their corner, or maybe even in their back pocket. This book helps you create that intimate relationship with God.

For many, prayer is a ritual or a requirement. But, I like to think of it as a conversation. It took some time for me to get comfortable to have those conversations with God. But, the more I had them, the more comfortable I felt talking to Him about the regular stuff as well as the tough stuff. Once I released the idea of speaking perfectly and instead started speaking from my heart and what’s on my mind, I slowly began to relax and have that chat with God that I needed every day.

The 31 devotions are broken up into four sections including Understanding, Knowledge, Trust, and Power. Each devotion includes a brief story, Bible verses, and a question to reflect and journal about.

I wasn’t familiar with Lindell’s writing prior to this book, but I love the way she places God in your heart and encourages you to open your door to Him. I didn’t necessarily feel led to journal every day after the reading, but I did fill the pages with numerous highlights.

In “1,2,3…Rest” Lindell discusses the often-times taboo topic of anxiety. I found this devotion to be so honest and helpful. I loved the Bible verses shared in this devotion and the practical steps to follow.

This prayer devotional’s small size is full of powerful words. This book is perfect for your bedside table or on your counter next to your morning coffee. Whenever you give your time to God, this devotional will help you connect to God and find that conversation you have been craving.
