So, I thought I would take each Book of the Bible and share my thoughts, verses, or people that stood out or spoke to me on that particular day. I have been
If any of this has peaked your interest in Reading the Bible in 90 Days, check out Moms Toolbox. I am sure there will be another session this winter. And, if I can do it.....YOU CAN TOO!
Proverbs is so FULL of verses that are humbling and convicting. You read through it and then start saying prayers of forgivenes and asking God for guidance in those areas. Proverbs has no room for pride or judgment of others. First look at yourself and start changing your ways and those around you will see a difference. I could have written out nearly every verse. But these were the ones that pertained to my life, or were convicting for me. You may have others that mean something to you.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 3:3-6 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 6:16-19 Six things the Lord hates. Do you know what they are?
Proverbs 7:27 Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death. Every man should read Chapter 7 - talking about the adulteress woman. This verses says it all.
Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands made a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. This verse reminds me of my dad - always working, doing something.
Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. Enough reason for me to fear the Lord!
Proverbs 11:2 When prides comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Proverbs 11:13 A gossip betrays confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. A great reminder.
Proverbs 11:21 Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
Proverbs 11:25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
Proverbs 12:4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.
Proverbs 15:13-14, 29-30 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. The discerning heart seeks knowledge but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. The Lord is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous. A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do; and your plans will succeed. When I look at my To Do list for the day, I ask God to help me complete that list. I ask Him to help me accomlish what I need to get done and then I am accountable to Him and myself!
Proverbs 16:28 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. Well, this is nothing new!
Proverbs 16:31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. We should be proud of our gray hairs instead of covering them up. (Easy for me to say since I haven't gotten any yet). But reading this verse, I am reminded of my beautiful Aunt Susie who has the most striking gray hair and my mom who turned gray early in life. Both lead lives of example.
